Terms of service

These terms apply to the Feng Shui API and the calculators on this website, operated by Fengshui API. By creating an account or using the API you agree to them.

1. The service

We provide Chinese astrology and feng shui calculations through a REST API and free online calculators. The API is free of charge within the published quota of 1000 requests per API key per hour.

2. Your account

  • Give a real e-mail address and confirm it; unconfirmed accounts are paused after 7 days and deleted after 30 days.
  • Keep your password and API key secret. You are responsible for requests made with your key; if it leaks, generate a new one on your account page.
  • One account per person or project. Do not create several accounts to get around the quota — ask us if you need more.

3. Acceptable use

  • Do not attack, overload or probe the service, and do not bypass rate limits or security measures.
  • You may use the results in your own websites and apps, including commercial ones, and cache them — results never change for the same input.
  • Do not resell plain access to the API as a competing API. Building products on top of it is welcome.
  • Attribution such as "Calculations by Feng Shui API" is appreciated but not required.

4. Nature of the results

The calculations follow traditional Chinese metaphysics and are provided for cultural, entertainment and informational purposes. They are not medical, psychological, financial, legal or construction advice. Calendar data is computed astronomically and may differ from other sources in rare borderline cases.

5. Availability and changes

We aim for high availability but give no guarantee of uninterrupted service. We may change or extend the API; breaking changes are introduced only in a new API version, and we announce the retirement of an old version in advance whenever possible. The quota may be adjusted to keep the service fair for everyone.

6. Liability

The service is provided free of charge and "as is". To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for damages resulting from its use or unavailability, except in cases of intent or gross negligence and where liability cannot be excluded by law.

7. Suspension and termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend API keys that break these terms, after a warning where reasonable.

8. Open source

The source code of the API is available under the MIT licence on GitHub. The MIT licence covers the code; these terms cover the hosted service.

9. Personal data and contact

How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy. Questions about these terms: contact form. We announce changes to these terms on this page and, for significant changes, by e-mail to account holders.
